:: Xinjiang Day 18 - 庫爾勒 Korla--吐魯番 Turpan

206 Provincial Highway 省道 then 314 National Highway 国道, we arrived Turpan 吐鲁番 in the late afternoon again.  We first dropped by 坎儿井, one of the greatest national structure in China, as great as the Great Wall, as I was told.  But we decided not to get in.
Then we went to 交河故城 and wanted to get in but it was too late as it closes at 7:30pm. 
We then lodged at 交通宾馆 and had dinner nearby.

the room of 世纪宾馆, my bed, Kawawa's and 3eyes'.
while we were on the way to 博士腾湖, we saw lots of lots of trucks with loads of small tomatoes.
in here you can see endless line up of trucks with tomatoes.

and.... our usual, sheeps.
although you cannot see well, this is a lotus pond.
and this is our 3eyes.
we skipped 博士腾湖 even though it was famous for fishes. I guess we were no fish lovers. so we turned back and took a break.

and we saw a big field of tomatoes. farmers there were harvesting.
bags and bags of tomatoes. let us go down there.
you can see there were many farmers there working and many bags of tomatoes.

they worked very hard and they were also curious about what we were doing.
lovely tomatoes.
one bag, two bags, three bags... so many of bright red small tomatoes.
they were picking them up from the field.

as usual, we were shooting pictures again. too bad none of them was willing to show their faces.

so we were heading back from the way we came here. those trucks were still there.

look at these.... soooooooo many tomatoes. actually they are mainly for making bottled tomatoe sauce.
this is one of those trucks.
after the tomatoe field, we left 库尔勒 and were heading to 吐鲁番. this was one of those highway toll gate.
this time the highway was in some mountain. we were driving up.

and we went downhill and saw this flat land.

finally, 26km to 吐鲁番.
after we reached 吐鲁番, our first destination was 坎儿井. but we did not get in. nearby, there were so many grapes sellers as 吐鲁番 is famous for their fresh grapes and dried grapes. we had to buy some.
郭师傅 loves grapes and he was choosing them.
then we headed to 交河故城 but it was too late and it was closed. so we lodged at 交通宾馆 and this was right outside the 宾馆.
