Spent a weekend at Hunter Valley for a conference (which is in fact a social function for the local delegates). The region is famous for its wineries, but since I am not a great fan of wines, the place is a bit boring for me. The valley is not accessable by public transport. The only general store within walking distance sells things at 3 times the normal price. Fortunately, I got the chance to enjoy a very fine dinner at the Cellar Restaurant (the best meal I have had in Australia so far).
Hadn't had time to visit the Hunter Valley Gardens, which should be spectacular with all the roses in full bloom.
