What do they eat?
The lower reaches of the rainforest and the forest floor provides a range of vegetation upon which the Red Legged Pademelon feeds. Fruits, succulent grasses and the leaves of shrubs are readily accessible in the dense understorey of the rainforest and wet sclerophull forests.

Where do they live?
Four distinct populations occur along the East Coast of Australia, from central New South Wales in the south, ranging intermittently along the Queensland coast line to the tip of Cape York Peninsula. Island populations also occur on three islands off the North Queensland Coast.

Interesting facts:
The Red Legged Pademelons home range may encompass four hectares. Nocturnal grazing habits rarely take Pademelon more than seventy metres form the security of the forest as they are preyed upon by the Dingo, Tiger Quioll and the giant Amethystine pythons.

Extinct in mainland Australia, these pademelons occur only in Tasmania.
They live most of their lives alone, only gathering together to breed. By day they shelter in forests and at night venture out to feed on grasses and herbs.
