Photos of the pet tarantulas in my collection. I am not so good with tarantula photography, so a lot of these are basically practice shots.

Photos of the bees and wasps I found during my 6 week stay in Singapore. This trip was quite interesting and productive, although I wish I had better photos of these insects. Lesser sulphur crested cockatoos (Cacatua sulphurea) can be found in Hong Kong, mainly in the Western and Southern districts. They probably originated from pet birds released long ago, and are quite plentiful now. My first attempt at photographing them in Victoria Park.

Photos of some of the insects I encounter from day to day in Hong Kong. I am not familiar with some of them, so for those without clear identification, please tell me the scientific or common name if you know it.

Some of the insects I came across in Singapore during May-July 2005. I am not familiar with some of them, so if you know the scientific names of any of them, do leave a comment.

Bird photography is quite challenging but rewarding. However, I haven't been able to do much because I don't have the right equipment. Even a 400mm lens can be a little short; it is the bare minimum recommended. Furthermore, my 100mm-400mm zoom lens isn't very sharp handheld, and it isn't always easy to approach birds. Here are some of my early efforts.  

Water features such as ornamental fountains, waterfalls (man made or natural) and others are great but challenging photo subjects. There are countless ways to frame the photo and many effects to bring out; you can totally freeze the water in mid air with a very fast shutter speed or bring out a flowing, misty look. Also, such features don't run away so you have lots of time to think about the composition. This album depicts some of my first photos of these features.
