But Segesta always bickering over boundaries with its rival Selinunte, ally of Syracuse. Segesta, ally with the Carthaginians, was destroyed at the end of the 4th century BC by Syracuse. Afterwards with the Romans, in virtue of their affinity and relationship with Elimi, Segesta once became a city "libera et immunis". Today, a theatre and a temple on the bare hill of Monte Barbaro, are all that remain of Segesta
