Tuesday 27th June 2006 12:05:06 AM 3GB storage space!![ 0 messages] General After getting a new lens, it's time to get more serious about photography... hehehe... So I decided to become a paid member of fotop.net. I've chosen the 3GB package which costs HK$99/year. With this package, I get more space and can upload bigger photo compared to the free package. Subscription is very simple, I use my trusty HSBC credit card to pay online, and the account is activated within 10 minutes... |
Sunday 25th June 2006 05:06:54 PM My new lens[ 0 messages] Art, Photography Bought this lens to replace my standard kit-lens. This blurry photo is taken using my mobile phone. It's a Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro. I have been looking for a more 'decent' walk around lens all this while, got it finally... :-) This lens costs as much as 50% of my camera price... lenses are expensive!!! No time to really put the lens to good use yet, due to WC2006. But I do posted some photos taken by this lens. Check it out here: http://www.fotop.net/siumai/new Read the review of this lens here: http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/sigma_1770_2845/index.htm |
Friday 23rd June 2006 06:53:41 PM A taxi full of coins[ 0 messages] Travel The dash board of this cab that I just rode is full of coins. According to the proud and kind owner of the cab, he has coins from more than 40 countries stuck on the steering wheel and dash board. Added on 28/06/2006: If you visit Labuan, do look out for this cab. |
Friday 23rd June 2006 02:55:51 PM Panasonic Lumix DMC-L1[ 0 messages] Art, Photography Months after revealing their first DSLR, Panasonic finally launch the DMC-L1. With an estimated price of $1999, I think it's hard to compete with the big players out there. To me, the best selling point of this camera is the Leica lens. Anti-dust (same as the one found in Olympus E-series) is also a good feature, but how effective? According to muke, the anti-dust in his Oly, apparently does help. Live view is just a nice to have feature. I can happily live without it. Why spend a few thousand RM to get a DSLR with live view? While instead you can get a P&S at just a few hundreds RM that comes with live view and full video functions. See the preview here: http://www.dpreview.com/articles/panasonicdmcl1/ |
Friday 23rd June 2006 09:39:58 AM Japan vs Brazil[ 0 messages] Sport When Japan were leading 1-0 in the first half, I thought Brazil were gonna let them win. I was wrong... Japan got blasted 4-1 instead!! |

Thursday 22nd June 2006 04:53:26 PM A Sleepy Month..[ 0 messages] Sport Well, it's been some time that I last blogged. May be because I'm tired and sleepy, thanks to the World Cup 2006. This morning's match was such a let down, both Argentina and Holland were not playing any football at all....arghhh... wish they both go "Holland"...in the Round-of-16 matches...hahahaha.... My training classes end earlier than normal nowadays, thanks to the trainer... :-) because he wants to go back early and sleep... |

Sunday 11th June 2006 10:50:38 PM What's with Astro?[ 0 messages] General I'm one of those guys who does not install Astro at home. During this World Cup, I realized that most of, or rather all the matches played by the 'big teams' are not shown over free TV. Those matches that I missed and going to miss are 'England vs Paraguay', 'S. Montenegro vs Holland', 'Italy vs Ghana'... This is so not fair... Do we need to compromise on what matches to watch just because we don't pay?? |
Sunday 11th June 2006 10:39:23 PM Alonso Wins the British GP!!![ 0 messages] Car Alonso wins again... This time at the British Prix. Full respect to this young lad. The other 2 podium finishes are Michael followed by Kimi. Poor Jenson on the other hand, has a really bad weekend. Having caught in the weigh-bridge during qualifying, causing him to start way back on the grid, had a broken engine during the race and retired from his home grand prix. Thursday 08th June 2006 03:45:48 PM Sony Alpha DSLR-A100[ 0 messages] Art, Photography After swallowing Konica-Minolta, Sony has finally unveiled their DSLR, the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100. What I like about this camera is its in-body image stabilizer (named Super SteadyShot by Sony) and anti-dust system...both features that I do like but not have in my Canon. Read the previews here: |
Thursday 08th June 2006 01:18:41 PM Bad Day[ 0 messages] General Today is a day that I would like to keep behind my back. Got a phone call early in the morning from the boss of the main contractor I'm working with, asking me the progress of our work. My sub-con is giving me problem again, my boss is asking me to do something I don't like... arghhh... don't really like to mention it any further... I always like to listen to this song when I had a not so "perfect" day. I always like songs that can sing my heart. Bad Day by Daniel Powter, it goes like this: "...You had a bad day |
