Some came here for the lavenders, others came here to see the Blue Grotto, the intellects might come for one of the first theatres in Europe. For me, I came here just to check out the island, the sun and the sea of Croatia... After all, Croatia is a country with a thousand islands, and a trip to Croatia would not be complete without setting his foot onto one of these!

My first time inside a Blue Grottoe...The experience was really eerie.. very quiet and mysterious...
Fortica, the Medieval fortress built on the top of the mountain to help to defend against the Turks
The island of Mljet was another must see if you have time. Referred as the most beautiful and most forested island in the Adriatic, its national park (that makes up most of the island) has 2 salt water lakes that you could explore with a kayak or a small paddle boat

They promised you 3 caves, they promised you 3 beaches, but what they didn't mention was a day of 'riding' on a bumpy speedboat with no life jackets! Nevertheless, if you survived the trip, you would be rewarded with wonderful experiences of the Blue Grotto, Green cave and Stiniva Cove! Not something you would encounter everyday! Definitely a must if you happened to stop by Hvar.

To be honest, there is more to do in the island of Hvar than walking around the old town. But if you want to relax and take it as a break from the busy itinierary, walking around the town, enjoying the sea, the view, the sun is not such a bad idea after all!

The journey from Split to Dubrovnik we deliberately took a detour via sea to visit the many islands of Croatia. We passed by Milna (Brac), stayed in Hvar and passed by Korcula and Mljet before finally arriving into Dubrovnik.
 
Definitely a well worth alterntiave way to experience the islands of Croatia!
