Vincent Poon :: Town of Hvar

To be honest, there is more to do in the island of Hvar than walking around the old town. But if you want to relax and take it as a break from the busy itinierary, walking around the town, enjoying the sea, the view, the sun is not such a bad idea after all!

The marina
You can rent a water taxi if you want to go to the nearby islands/beaches... don't think the red one is for hire though
Another 'submarine' that will not submerge. It seems this is a very popular attraction as I can find it everywhere in Croatia
Most of the ships in the marina are smaller boats rather than larger yachts as found in other parts of the Mediterranean
Occasionally one will also find some luxurious yachts moorred in the marina

Cruise ships do come to Hvar, but only smaller boats. Most of them prefer to moor near Split
If you walk away from the town centre along the port you will find another part of Hvar. Straight ahead if the Franciscan Monastery
Loggia and the clock tower. Used to be a courthouse but now the loggia is served as spa salon, café, reading room, and dance hall and is the meeting place of Croatia's social elite.
