Predjama is crouching magnificently in its cave. As you approach by road, you would not see it until the last moment.
| Started with a 9th century tiny castle, over the centuries, different castles were built here, and they gradually moved out to the mouth of the cave.
| Erasmus, the 15th Century castle owner, used this as a base to conduct many Robin Hood-style raids. Soldiers were sent to defeat him but the siege lasted over a year and the defense was so strong that they only defeated him by bombarding him while he was at the loo, the most vulnerable place in the whole structure (the small house on the left)

To visit the cave underneath you will have to be well equipped, the tour is only available during the summer months and is only for those physically fit
| The castle was built inside a huge cave to make access to it difficult.
