Vincent Poon :: East Bank: The Luxor Temple (23rd Apr 2007)
Evacuated from a village, this temple was originally built by 18th dynasty Amenhotep III for the three Egytian gods. Ramses II then came along and added his many statues.
The most important thing about this temple was here I finally met someone who reminded me there is still a language called Cantonese. (besides the usual brain-washing "one dollar, one dollar" enchantment I heard every day)

Hypostyle Hall, it has 32 papyrus columns in four rows of eight
Chapel of Khons
Birth Room. Relief shows the moment of conception when the fingers of the god touch those of the queen and 'his dew filled her body' (Well I saw no queen but instead I noticed many female visitors there touched the 'dews')

Avenue of Sphinxes. If you are faithful enough to walk along this avenue for 3km, then you will be granted the sigh of Temple of Karnak. (Of course I took the taxi)
