Vincent Poon :: The Pyramids (28th Apr 2007)
Those who visit Egypt for the first time will definitely not leave until they have met the deadly gaze of the Sphinx or touched the golden stone of the giant Toblerone...
... and once you are done with in Giza, Saqqara and Memphis are also worth checking out... and of course Dahshur as well if you have time...

The full panoramic view of the Giza pyramids
I'm a wanderer...
THIS was really the reason why I came here.
Album: Giza (28th Apr 2007)
As the only remaining seven wonders of the world, the Great Pyramids of Giza are the no. 1 must see when people go to Egypt. However, besides the amazing pyramids, the moving objects (I mean the camel riders, the merchants and the tourist police) around there are also amazingly annoying.

Album: Saqqara (28th Apr 2007)
Saqqara is a necropolis which was built for the dead. The centrepiece of the area is really the Step Pyramid of Zoser. Originally built by high priest Imhotep (no, not the one in the Mummy Movie) in 2650BC, the pyramid is the world's earliest stone monument and of course the first pyramid built.

Among this city of the dead you are not alone: horses, donkeys and camels will all keep you company.

Album: Memphis (28th Apr 2007)
Memphis was the capital founded after the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt, it has been the capital of Egypt for more than 2000 years until Thebes was made the capital in the New Kingdom era.
Today Memphis is no more than a village, and the reason why anyone really bothers to come along is really to see the gigantic fallen statue of Ramses II, up close!
