This is the start, there is still some walking before you get to the entrance of the siq
| Djinn Blocks is the first sight you will see in the Bab as-Siq
| On the right you will see the Obelisk tomb (top) and Bab as-Siq Triclinium (bottom), a mixture of Greek, Egyptian and local style

Workers clearing away the works of their horses and donkeys
| If you feel too tired to walk the entire Siq, you can hire carriages, but it will only take you to the entrance, from there on you have to ride the donkeys

The tourist police office marks the entrance to the 1.2km long Siq. To the right is the starting trail of the 88m-long Nabataean tunnel, an alternative way to enter Petra. A shame that I did not try out.
| This is the tunnel entrance
| Past the tourist office is the entrance of the Siq. The niche on either side marks the once monumental arch at the entrance
| Sometimes you get two guards guarding at the entrance....
