Vincent Poon :: Fes (23 - 27 Oct)

Fes, the oldest of the 4 imperial cities, the medina itself is more ancient (1200 yrs old) than Marrakesh's and others. There do not need to have many tourist attractions in Fes as the medina itself already is worth the visit.

6 items in this album
Donkeys transporting hides to and from the tanneries and leather shops
An artistic view of the tanneries during the tanning days
and Fish Tajine (22 EUR) with moroccan salad, beer, choc moouse... btw fish in fes is hard to find
Album: Medina, the old City

Fes' medina is ancient and people in there still live and work in their old ways... being inside is just like stepping back in time to the medieval times... and sorry about the ordering of the pictures as they were as lost as I was.

Album: Tanneries

The colorful tanneries was perhaps the most important incentive I dropped by Fes. Fes has one of the largest working tanneries that dated back to centuries.

Album: Food@Fes

Found some interesting stuff in Fes not found in other places (yet)... fish tajine, egg tajine and not to mention the hard-to-find ice-cream in the old Medina

Even the keychain is very stylish
Mosquée Youssef Ibn Tachfine
Fes has many different types of classic locomotives
Album: Riads & Hotels

I stayed in 2 hotels in Fes, one in the new city and another one in a place far far away... despite the distance (and the price), the ksar de Fes is quite a nice boutique hotel.

Contains: 24 items.
Album: La Ville Nouvelle

I only stayed in the new city area for the first night and when I have to go to the CTM bus station,or to the Grand Taxi station every night to get my transport back to the hotel... Still it is a complete contrast to the medina

Album: L' ONCF, la gare et les trains des Fes

In Morocco I had quite a few opportunities to take the ONCF and most of the journeys were not too pleasant (especially from Casablanca to Marrakesh), I would recommend you to take the coaches unless you want to "blend-in" with the locals...
