Vincent Poon :: Ports of Call - Naples, Pompeii & the Amalfi Coast

The port of call was in Naples but what we really visited was Pompei and the Amalfi Coast along the scenic drive of SS163. There was so much to see in Amalfi Coast that we spent (or drove?) a full day here and only visited Positano and Ravello. This is not just about the breath-taking views, but each town itself is so unique and full of character.

This is definitely on my redo list and some day I would wish to return to visit Capri's famous Blue Grotto as well!

The Macellum was Pompeii's marketplace for meat and fish. Today it houses two plaster casts encased in rather grimy display cases.
A close-up of these plaster mummies
The volcanic ashes buried the body and formed a hard shell around it while the inside has decayed over the years, so the scientists poured plaster inside these hollows to recreate the exact body shape at the time of the incident
This looks like a market place symbol to me

Is this a cellar, a prison or else I dunno...
Gentlemen, this was the Gents, and it smells bad as of today... also can anyone tell me what those blocks are for?
The granary, now stores hundreds of artefacts discovered in the city during excavations
besides potteries, there are also statues....
