According to the Greek legend, Djerba is the Land of the Lotus-Eaters, where Ulysses paused in the course of his odyssey and had a lot of troubles persuading his crew to get back on board as they did not want to leave this island of dreams. Today we are also going to this island of dreams, and yes, we did not want to leave too...

When you cross a traditional Djerbian house with the brilliant mind of a modern Belgian architect, you get Dar Barbine. After coming into Tunisia, Gerard and Isabelle spent most of their time slowly and gradually transforming this which otherwise was a normal Tunisian residence into a chic and stylish guest house! Yes I was so impressed by the pictures I made a detour to come here to experience for one night and I was not disappointed!

Album: Village of Erriadh and its Street Arts Project
Erriadh is a very small village in Djerba. We came here by chance because of Dar Bibine. Yet we did not know that a street art project "Djerbahood" was launched in summer 2014 as 150 graffiti artists from 30 countries all came here and changed this quiet village into an amazing open air street arts museum!

Album: Hotel Djerba Plaza Thalasso & Spa
The last "luxuroius" hotel we stayed in Tunisia, this 4-star Djerba Plaza hotel is located inside a palm park of 14 hectares and right next to a nice beach. Although it was awarded #25 as the best service hotel in tripadvisor in Tunisia, I personally did not find any outstanding services except from one of the receptionists. Nevertheless, the space, the greens, the pools and the beach all made the stay in this hotel worthwhile.

Album: Houmt Souk
Djerba's island's capital lies on the island's northern shore. It is more like a Greek fishing village crossing with a Middle Eastern souq. After two days of strikes I only managed to quickly come over for a quick peek on the last morning and was lucky to see one of the most beautiful scenes in Tunisia
