 El Jem's Amphitheatre is the 3rd largest in the Roman world and is one of the most best preserved Roman relic to be found in Africa. I was amazed at how few people there were and how well preserved it is, you could get down to the dungeon or go all the way up to the top for a splendid view. Now if only there were some living gladiators...

Ok here we go, first we have to climb up a flight of stairs to the inside

First we decided to check out the long underground passageway beneath the amphiteatre
These were the places to hold the animals and gladiators in their last moments. They could hear the  35,000 people yelling from above  for their blood  through the metal grating platform on the ceiling...
Next we got back upstairs to ground floor and checked out the structure of the amphitheatre
