After a long delay, we finally set off for our journey. Surprisingly not long afterwards we already had our first coffee break at a local coffee shop
| Like all Arabic countries, these coffee shops were populated by men only (even during weekdays). This is the Tunisian expresso
| Like in Morocco, they prefer motorbikes for quick transportation
| With the scale on the back of the car, I suspect this is a stall opened for business...

LPG tanks lying in the middle of the street
| After an hour's drive we arrived in Kairouan. The Aghlabid Basins were our first stop. Built in 860 AD, these reservoirs were huge (128m (W) x 4.5m (D)). Now only 2 remain
| Next to the basin is an abandoned (?) playground. This was one of the rides. Does the head look familiar?
| This too... Didn't know Japanese robot anime was that inspiring here too... anyway besides this playground, the whole area was also a good site for dating. (not because it was particularly romantic but it was deserted and quiet with not many visitors coming along)

Next we went to the Medina where the Great Mosque was. Since we were early(?!) we took our time walking around the thick wall of the Great Mosque
| One of the streets in the Medina
| The exterior of the house was made of bricks, not something very common there but quite visually appealing
| Since going in the Mosque was not part of the itinerary, we had the privilege of looking at the courtyard of the Mosque from the roof of one of these carpet shops.
