To make up for the loss in the first day Pawel arranged a local expert to take us to the Camel Mountain and Mos Espa (Star Wars film location) at 6am; followed by a tour in the Palmeraie in Nefta. After that we continued our 2nd day itinerary to cross east through the saltless and waterless salt lake to arrive in Douz where we could have some thrilling action in the middle of the desert at 40C.

The afternoon was spent driving to Ksar Ghilane (100km deep in Sahara) where we were supposed (but too late) to enjoy swimming in a natural lake and a night under the tent (together with the crying, howling and fighting sounds of unknown animals nearby)...Of course free heating was always supplied....

Gone were the old days of using a rope and a bucket.. there were now pumps and pipes

The well was really deep

With all the added mucking around so we were still on our way when the sun started to set...

Finally arrived in Ksar Ghilane, an oasis located 100km into the Sahara desert, where you could get to see the sand dunes of Grand Erg Oriental

Paradise camp - that's our camp!

This was my tent, tonight would be hot and I don't think there would be air-conditioning

Since no one else (was foolish enough to come at this weather) but us in the camp site, so we got to have our own tent

That was the place for our open-air dinner. Pawel said if we were lucky we could meet some scorpions
