Vincent Poon :: Ville Nouvelle

If Medina is the old city then this part is the new city of Tunis... here we (tried to) hunt for good restaurants as well as experienced first hand on what it was like to be waking up in a city where you met more cops than citizens during the festival of Eid al-Adha.

We arrived Tunis late so in the first night we had dinner at this place, Panorama
The decoration looked dated but lots of locals were eating there
This was the bread and mint tea
Penne with mushroom (and a lot of cheese, didn't say that in the menu)

Chicken with rice... again the chili was not mentioned in the menu!! The dinner was 18 TND in total.
2014 was the year of the general election in Tunisia. First since the Arab Spring.
This was the TGM sub-urban train terminal (Tunis Marine) where we boarded our train to Carthage and Sidi Bou Said
Again, a very easy going place, people just crossed the rail whenever they like

After we returned from Sidi Bou Said on the 2nd day, it was already dark. This scene is not usually seen in other cities as they would not have wasted this huge area for nothing.
The 38m high clocktower in the Place du 7 Novembre 1987. Its lattice-worked, bronze-coated steel body was illuminated from within.
The lamp posts were still quite traditional
On the 2nd night we were back at the same restaurant again (despite the food quality), this time we had the citronnade
