Vincent Poon :: High Place of Sacrifice (Al-Madbah)

This is said to be the most accessible of all sacrificial places high in the mountain. Took at least 45 minutes and marginally easier(?) to hike up than to the Monastery. Indeed I have sacrificed lots of sweat and energy for to reach such place, but at the end couldn't find the altar, maybe I did not sacrifice enough?

This is the starting point... it is already 3pm. Can I make it and back?
They say it takes 45 minutes and best be done in the morning... but this is approaching sunset...
The path was steep and long, not for the faint-hearted if you have already been to the Monastery in the morning!
On the way up there was nobody, so felt a bit spooky and not sure if I was on the right path

Now this guy is dying to reach the highest place for sacrifice... no, that doesn't look the correct way though...
Near the top there is a cafe and a shop with no one around!
This is as close to the top as I could find but I could not find the altar!
After all these sacrifices of your sweat and energy, you will be rewarded with magnificant views of Petra and around

It offers a spectacular view of the Royal Tombs below
Another good look of the royal tombs when I come down
It is amazing how they cut the steps out of nowhere...
On the way down, finally saw someone
